Message: Adaptability
Preacher: Japhet De Oliveira
Refresh: Open with prayer. Read or listen to Psalm 55:1-8.
Read: John 10:1-10 — As you read in the NLT translation, note 1-3 insights/questions that arise.
Reflect: When Jesus describes Himself as the door in verse 9 and how anyone who enters by him will be saved, he is uttering revolutionary words. The same words echoed from the Garden of Eden. The same call laid out on the lives of the Patriarchs, Prophets and Kings. That the apostles would share in Acts 4:12 (ESV).
And there is salvation bin no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Jesus is the only path of salvation. There is no way into the sheepfolds except through Jesus. This is the Gospel. That we are saved by grace through Jesus. That our lives are changed forever and everyone we know should know this. The Gospel of John goes to great length to show us that Jesus is equal to God, and the message that Jesus is repeating through life and stories constantly points us to a refreshed picture of God the Father. That is our responsibility as individuals and as a collective in our communities through the Church, to share the Gospel.
Such incredible good news that it must be shared. This is the single largest puzzle that I have discovered as common as the air we breathe. I wish it were a simple mathematical equation, such as 1+1=2, but there are so many nuances, so many external factors that, while the answer is 2, how you share it matters. How you reach it matters. How you express it matters. How you personally understand it matters. How others perceive it matters. That ability to be sensitive means you need to become more adaptable.
Recalibrate:
Respond: Pray for the opportunity to share the Gospel.
Research: Explore the four spiritual laws of salvation, made famous by Billy Graham. How do these sit with your understanding of the Gospel.
