Series: The Radical Call of Jesus
Message: Radical Hope
Preacher: Japhet De Oliveira
Daily Walk: Japhet De Oliveira
Refresh: Open with prayer. Read or listen to Psalm 107:23-32.
Read: Revelation 21:1–22:21 (ESV). As you re-read the text for the final time this week in the English Standard Version, what new insights did you discover about God’s character?
Reflect: When is Jesus going to come back? This is the question we might automatically be drawn to when we finish the last chapter. Yet Jesus wants us not to focus on when He is coming back, but to focus on who He is. For when you focus on who He is, you are always ready for His return.
I believe that Adventism in its essence knows that while this world is not our permanent home in its current state, it does belong to Jesus. As followers of Jesus, and as believers in the full Gospel story—as men and women of incredible honor—we ought to be on the frontline of everything that matters locally and globally (Micah 6:8).
We should be actively working towards healing and restoring justice and love in our communities.
We should embrace the cross and celebrate that the Kingdom of God is here and that the Kingdom of Heaven is yet to come.
We should have our churches be centers of influence that change our lives. We should invest in our children and honor the old.
We should live a life of beauty in anticipation of Jesus’ return.
We should create life moments each day and treasure the breath we have.
We should write poetry, books, music, and lyrics that inspire honest conversation.
We should advance good through our art and our vocations.
We should express the hope that Jesus presents to us each day through our very actions.
Recalibrate: What is the radical hope in Jesus?
Respond: Pray for those who need to hear the story of Jesus.
Research: Read Revelation 1 and Revelation 22 in comparison with each other.
