Sermon: Finding Home

Reflect: “Are we in a buyer’s market or a seller’s market?” I overheard a man ask my dad. He’s been in real estate for over 30 years now, so this conversation was not foreign to me. I remember as a child driving around random neighborhoods on Sunday afternoons just to look at houses.

As I’ve gotten older, I am more aware that housing prices are always fluctuating. Moving to Colorado from Southern California was supposed to be a way to stretch our dollar, yet as the search goes on, it becomes evident that it will be harder than we thought. More and more, I am grateful that Jesus is a constant. He does not change like interest rates or housing markets.

Psalm 91 not only says that He is our shelter, but also that we can trust Him to take care of us. In verses 9 and 10, it says that when we make Jesus our dwelling place that “no evil will befall you.” There are many days when I feel like the enemy has overtaken me; days when I feel there is no hope for my spirit. But there is a beautiful promise that when we make Jesus our refuge, we will be delivered from the oppression of Satan. We will find peace when we are in the home that is Christ.

 Recalibrate: Do you trust Jesus?

 Respond: Pray that you will find your security in Him.
