This week we will be reading the book of Leviticus looking for what God is like. After all the stories in Genesis and Exodus, if you think Leviticus is a little boring, join the hundreds of thousands who break their New Year’s resolution to read through the Bible only to get stuck somewhere in Leviticus.

You might think that God is a little OCD or that God likes the smell of BBQ, but if that's all you get out of Leviticus, you may need a little help from King David who understood the meaning of all the blood and sacrifices. Read Psalm Chapter 51. You can also get some help from the book of Hebrews, Chapters 9 and 10, and see what Paul has to say about the sacrifices.

As you read through the Book of Leviticus, please keep in mind these questions:

• Why all the blood and sacrifices? 
• Why all the holiness code? 
• What do the sacrifices and holiness code tell you about God? 
• Can you find God's love, forgiveness and grace in the book of Leviticus?

If you get stuck and just can't read any more, turn to Leviticus Chapter 16 and read about the Day of Atonement, also known as Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in Judaism. I think you’ll enjoy watching Pastor Mike Slayden's sermon on Yom Kippur.
